Malerne, Paris, C clarinet info?

Hi folks!

I take the liberty to welcoming myself to this magnificent forum, with posting a question for you.

I stumbled across a Malerne C clarinet in near perfect condition a couple of years ago. It is really a beautiful little thingie, with a great response. I am not sure whether the keys are all silver or just silver plated.

The serial number is 02347. The previous owner was a very old Swedish gentleman who had used it "for ages" playing at local dance events in the Swedish countryside. He did not remember anything about its origin. He was almost crying when he left the clarinet with me... his fingers could not work the small keys any longer. I had to promise to play it as often as possible... and I really do!

Is there anyone near a Langwell bible or something, or in other ways carrying around knowledge of the Malerne brand, who can provide info on this baby?

Thanks GBK, I already did before posting (of course :o)
And there is a lot of interesting facts (especially from Jack Kissinger!), but not a word on Malerne C's in those 120+ postings as far as I can C...

What I was hoping for was if someone happened to have access to serial number/production year info.

And also regarding the likelihood of this being silver rather than plated keyboard -- can't find any visual clue to determine this for sure. Any tricks out there?

Thanks again - I will be hangin out quite a bit here in the future. And I'll try not to post silly questions...

(and, Jim L: No need to worry about me, I don't have a mental thing about solid silver. Just a coincidence right now. :-)

Here's something that may not work worth a hoot: if the keys are silver plated, it's likely that over time the plating (whatever got in there, which may not be much) has been worn around the roda. Remove one key. clean it well, then use a pipe cleaner with silver polish to try to shine the interior of the key axle. If it does, congratulations. If it doesn't, well, so what.
