Hello!
I got to this website while searching for this record. I'm trying to earn my halo by finding this record for my uncle. He's a record collector and is pretty particular about his records. He's been looking for this one for 54 years so it might be hopeless but he doesn't have internet so thats why I'm trying. He's been spending the last year keeping my grandmother alive so I'd like to do something nice for him in return. If it's possible. If anyone knows a way I can get a copy of this record, please email me. Thanks very much!

redblueyes -
Reginald Kell's Quiet Music is a 10" LP and quite rare.
I think it was made before Groove Guard was introduced. (Groove Guard made the outside rim and the label areas higher than the rest, so the groove area wouldn't grind against the album cover or the turntable platter.) Also, very few 10" records shipped with an inner sleeve, so the groove area rubbed against the cardboard album cover. As a result, early 10" LPs are very hard to find in playable condition.
I've seen Quiet Music occasionally on rare-LP lists, usually for upwards of $50. Good luck finding a copy.
Best regards.
Ken Shaw

Thanks to you both. Yes, I know this 10" must be very rare but I feel like its my MISSION to find it for him! He hasn't had much of a happy life and this record would bring more joy to him than anything ever has!! At one point I had found one Kell/Quiet Music disc and I was so proud of myself but it was a 78 (not the 10") so it was like only 2 songs and not what he wanted (he doesn't have a 78 player). He wants that certain one! Plus, the 78 broke in the mail when I sent it to him so I was pretty relieved it wasn't his precious record afteral. ha
Thanks for the groove info, I didn't know about that.
I checked the Nanuck site but didn't see it. If anyone else has any website to recommed, please do. (All the record sites I know myself are more for rare prog & UK 70s vinyls and they don't have this older stuff.) I look on ebay all the time, but I've never see that one for auction.
THANKS!

This post dates quite back ago, but today I bought the CD titled: 'Swing Low Sweet clarinet" Reginald Kell and his Quiet Music.
It's a compilation of several of his LP recordings, and the performances with his Quiet Music group are in here.
I really enjoyed listening to the pieces on this CD, and am glad to be able to learn more about Kell and his clarinet playing through this bboard.
