Many of you are sax players as well, in which case you must know Jon as one of the most gifted mouthpiece artisans. I just learned from the Newsgroup Alt.music.saxophone that Jon died a few days ago of bone cancer after a very short illness. Just half a year ago, he turned my ordinary Meyer alto sax mp into a truly excellent one. I believe he also worked on clarinet pieces but apparently much less so. His death is a great loss in our community. He will be sorely missed.

Such a loss. I know when I have had mouthpiece refacing questions Jon was always quick to answer. His honesty, his skill and his crafstmanship will be missed. He will also be missed as a good friend of the woodwind community. Take care wherever you are, Jon.

I also had a so-so Meyer that Jon turned into a killer alto piece. And I always enjoyed talking with him on the phone, too. Like talking to an old friend.
