Alphie,
The 1st. clar. already has a pair (Wurlitzer) and we're planning to use them, as you suggest, in the repertoire where our trumpets already use rotary valves, Beethoven Brahms, Bruckner etc. Apart from any authentic value it'll make the idea of playing some, perhaps, over-familiar pieces more interesting.
The Yamaha looks so similar to the Wurlitzer that I am tempted to think they've copied the design. I'm not sure of the price as the orchestra is paying.
