Does anyone know of a comparative facing chart of various clarinet mouthpiece makers, listing tip openings/facings?
It's an enormous tool when buying sax mouthpieces, so I was wondering if there's a similar info for a clarinet.

Vandorren provides one with their Blue-Box reeds. See if that helps.

Jim -
The Weiner Music catalog has a full-page chart. I just checked their on-line catalog (www.weinermusic.com), which is under construction, and that particular page is not yet up. However, they will send you a free printed catalog. Call (800) 622-CORK (2675).
Good luck.

Jim: The major discount houses, Woodwind & Brasswind,
International Music Suppliers, Inc. and Muncy, provide
charts in their catalogs showing tip openings for clari-
nets (and saxes) but only one I know of, Int'l Music
Suppliers, show facings and that is limited to Vandoren
mps. Its the same data as furnished in the box when you
buy an mp. You might try calling Lisa Argiris, President
of Int'l at 800 762 1116 ext 227. She is a professional
clarinet player and a very helpful person. I agree with
you, facing information is very useful info and as worthy
as tip opening data. I'm always puzzled why these data
aren't emphasized more in the marketplace. Specialty
reeds i.e. V12s are made for longer facings such as the
5RV and B45 and students wonder why their not getting
results with short lay mps. Good luck

My copy of the WW&BW catalog has a large comparison chart across all listed brands of clarinet mps, but it still may not give you enough detail. The general trend of the chart I saw gives relatively close/small mps on the left, med/med in the middle, and open/large mps on the far right.
