Why not just good 'old fashioned electrical tape cut to fit the mouthpiece? Or scotch tape or electrical tape with a cut of a rubber glove underneath it?
I'm extremely lazy (not cheap). I bought a mouthpiece from a company that sends them WITH a patch on them. I was too lazy to buy a new one so I have this clear patch on my mouthpiece that has a little flap which you are supposed to remove the patch by pulling it. Noone has noticed so far though.
Also, I prefer thicker patches, but only because I have a slight chip in one of my top teeth and it will, after a short while (week or two) completely bite through the patch and reach the mouthpiece.
