Has anyone tried the Vandoren M15 with either 13 or profile 88 series?
I read "At last, a mouthpiece which enables you to play strong reeds with a great blowing ease. Exceptional sonority. The musician can easily achieve a colorful spectrum of sound."
What constitutes a 'strong reed' vandoren reed?
I want to avoid a stuffy sound. Try putting a V12 4 on a B45 it just don't work.
Thanks
...insomnea is a bit** (oh wait its that coffee 3 sugars at 8:30 I had)

The M15 13 88 is currently my mouthpiece of choice. I am not an expert (I play at intermediate level), and I have never tried many of the pricey mouthpieces. (Hawkins, Smith, Fobes, Pyne etc.) I do have about 20 or so cheaper mouthpieces I have tried, and for me the best setup I have found thus far, is the M15 with a Zonda 3 1/2 reed and an Eddie Daniels II ligature.
Warning your mileage may vary.
What works best for one player obviuosly can't work best for every player.

Hi,
I am currently playing an M15 mouthpiece, which I love. I played on a Hawkins mouthpiece for a long time. With the M15, I find that I can get a much fuller sound with less air than the Hawkins. I don't have to work so hard to get the sound I desire. I use V12 strength 4 reeds, and have no trouble blowing on the mouthpiece...
I highly recommend trying the M15...it produces a consistent, excellent sound.
Kristin :-)

Thanks kristen and John. I'll check the M15 out.
I'm also bidding on a nice Kasper Cicero Mattson reface.
Peace!

Bidders beware. There is no picture of the facing work done on this piece so I would tread carefully or e mail the seller to get some good pics.....

I've asked him and he has not responded. His buy it now is $348. A little to ridiculous. Without a response I'm not bidding on it.
Another Kapser is up with picture that looks decent.
