 The Rossini Theme/Vari. Articles

If you recall, I had gotten the music for Rossini's Intro, Theme, and Variations not too long ago (on Superbowl Sunday to be exact). It seemed overwhelmingly difficult at first, but I took my first serious look at it this weekend. I found that while it is a competetent composition, it is nowhere near "overwhelming" and that it's a great piece to practice.

The Introduction is easy, and I don't have any problems with the Theme either. Variation I is the most fun section in this whole piece. Variation II gets a little difficult. The arpegios in Variation III are quite challenging, and so are the rising run in thirds following the chromatic scale and that long descending C Major scale in staccato which ends the variation. The slow variation doesn't seem too challenging since you can play it slowly, and for the Coda section, I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like the hardest part of the whole piece.

Now, I remember seeing some old articles from the bulletin board about this, what's the URL again?

BTW...my Mozart is coming along very well. Thanks.

Actually, you were pointed to the articles before. It would be a good itdea to use the bookmark facility in your browser for such important info or to at least attempt a simple search first:

http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=102546&t=102485 was where Ken Shaw gave you a hand before.

"...Rossini's Intro, Theme, and Variations ..... while it is a competetent composition..."

I'm sure Rossini won't mind your lukewarm review, considering that he probably didn't write the piece...GBK
