Local 802 info for Sunday, Mar. 9, 2003:

"ALL PICKETING ON SUNDAY WILL CONTINUE TO BE ONE AND HALF HOURS BEFORE SHOW TIME AT EACH PERFORMANCE. This will be the only times we need picketing tomorrow (unless there is an earlier Local 1 work call for which you must provide at least a small picket line-- your theatre rep will contact you if needed.). For most shows the first picketing will be between 1:30 pm -3:00 pm Let's shoot for 100% attendance from each orchestra-- subs and regulars.
NOW IS THE TIME PEOPLE ! THE HEAT IS ON . . .
If you didn't bring your sign home with you, pick one up at the union before
you head over to your respective shows. Or make your own sign and bring it with you (remember, don't use wood for the pole).
AT THE END OF THE PICKETING, EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAD OVER TO THE RALLY -- this one will be big, folks. . . .

THEATRE WORKERS RALLY
Theatre workers are rallying together on Sunday at 3:15pm. Please join us
at the SEIU 1199 HQ auditorium, 310 West 43rd Street (between 8th and 9th) . Leaders from the theatre unions and city and state unions will speak.
SOLIDARITY WILL KEEP THE MUSIC LIVE ON BROADWAY

Broadway Strike Benefits -- UPDATE
On Saturday, March 8, 2003 the Local 802 Executive Board took the following actions. The Board voted to reconsider the strike benefits it had put in place for the current strike on Broadway. In its place the Board voted the following:
"In lieu of the former strike benefit of $240 per week for Local 802
members, the funds allocated for strike benefits would instead be made
available to all Local 802 Broadway bargaining unit members and to all
members of the Broadway theatrical unions who have supported the Local 802 strike by honoring our picket lines on an as-needed basis.”"

SNL just did a homage to you guys via "Trevor the Broadway Guy," who sang about pre-recorded music in the pits being "the pits."

Best of luck!

Or, paraphrased from the local representing the Dallas Opera (yours truly was on the steps a couple of years back handing out leaflets):

The Future of Broadway
is in the Pits!
