 "pro"

I've been thinking lately about what a "pro" musician is. Although I've been paid good money to play corporate guitar gigs, I'm no Django. However, I'm competent enough to get asked to play these gigs. It seems to me that some of the best musicians I've heard don't get paid to play. Thus, they really arent "pros." However, their talent seems to me to far exceed many who get paid to perform. What do others think?

I don't know any of those people in the "classical world." Do they exist?
