Hi, I know this may sound silly to some of you, but what is the best method to practise semiquavers and triplets at speeds of 160? The fingerings just keeps throwing my rhythm off.
By the way, is there an alternative to playing the 2nd lowest F# to the second lowest Bb fast?

Play them slowly. You can't just expect to play the clarinet and be able to play very fast. If you can't do it at a certain tempo, you can't do it. You have to approach the desired tempo from a lower one. It's quite simple really.

i also agree to play them slow first just to get the hang of where your fingers go, then speed it up little by little each time you feel comfortable at that pace. i would also suggest to maybe go on a clarinet fingering website and see if there is any little alternative fingerings for that note. i don't know any off hand but most likely there just may be one! good luck!

If you need to trill or trem. between those two notes here's a good fingering: left hand f# and trill the top rh side key. It's not the most beautiful Bb but it is the pitch and you can definitely get away with it.

What works best for me is to practise in different rythmns. Here is an example of rythmns you could practise for groups of four 16ths:
(- = long, . = short, hope that makes sense?)

..-.
...-
Practise your passage in those 10 rythmns, and you should be able to play it!
