Question: If he/she is selftaught on a clarinet without taking lessons and has this belief of going far with it, can he or she considered to be a prodigy and well gifted?

Thanks....

Belief does not make a prodigy. It is the recognition of other professionals in the particular field of endeavor that makes a prodigy.

I would say it all depended on what level he/she achieved. If someone achieved an advanced level of playing without lessons, that would indeed be remarkable. But if this person can just play basic tunes without a good tone, staccato, etc., then I would recommend he/she try to find a good teacher in order to "go far with it"!
