Heyyy,
Does anyone play on the M13 lyre? I just got one, my friend bought it for me as my late Christmas present. I made the drastic change from a B45 to this closed tip, and jeez... it was crazy. My friend says my tone seems more centered and clear.
My only problem is that my Moenig 67mm won't work on it. With my B45, I was always really sharp, so the 67mm was great for bringing me down a bit. The M13 and the Moenig make me horribly flat, so now I have to use my Clark Fobes 66mm with it.
I am kinda sad about not being able to use my Moenig, but I think the Fobes is doing a fine job with the new mouthpiece. I'm not much of a switcher when it comes to mouthpieces, ligs and barrels, though. So I almost feel like I would be using my poor Moenig or B45. So sad. :(

I use it. Remember, it's optimized for 440 Hz, so combining it with the long barrel is a strike against your intonation.
It's a decent mouthpiece. I alternate between it and a Pomarico crystal, and I've gotten so used to the M13's pitch that I'm sharp on the crystal. It's very responsive, but my tone is getting a bit bright on it. I'm working to mellow it out, but now I'm getting curious to try a Greg Smith Kaspar -- a local professor who I want to start taking lessons with uses one and raves about it.

You've just aquired one of Vandy's best mouthpieces, congratulations!
Yes the M13Lyre (and all the 13 series) tends to play flatter than regular mouhtpieces. If you really want to use your moennig, it is possible to have a mm cut from the bottom of the mouthpiece to make it play a bit sharper.
I don't know how it's done or how much it costs, I just know it can be done.
You can also decide to get a new barrel...

The M13 was designed for use with the Buffet R-13. If you're not playing a Buffet clarinet you may see less than great results with the M13. They were designed to compensate for the tendency of the R-13s to play sharp in the altissimo--thus your problem with being too flat. The Fobes barrel is probably a better choice for use with the M-13.

I play on this and it seems to have helped my tuning a lot. I am so sharp that it's almost a disease with me! It's not just a few notes, it's the whole range that's sharp. I have always been this way, and this mouthpiece has almost cured me.

They are very nice step-up mouthpieces. The band directors around here recommend them with the E-11, Bob--and for a good reason.
