 clipping

A problem I have noticed when using a friend's Cordier clipper is the shape of the tip - much less curved than the original reed and the mouthpiece. Would this be why I have no luck saving reeds this way, or are you people doing something different? Why is the Cordier clipper shape out of step with mpc shape? Or is it? Thoroughly confused....

Hi Karel,

I have said reed clipper and have experienced the same problem. I prefer to use a Clarion (made in France)that I picked up somewhere years ago. The tip is a perfect match from the mouthpiece. The Clarion is not as polished or as sophisticated as the Cordier but the job gets done.

Courdier trimmers are inconsistent. Each time I get a new one (every 3 to 4 years), I take along several worn out reeds and try a bunch of them until I find one that's shaped the same as my mouthpiece.

Best regards.

My Courdier trimmer is shaped oddly too! I thought it was just mine. However, I have made it work by adjusting the placement of my reed. What are some other good brands?
