I just thought I would let everyone know of a great piece that was given to me by my professor the other day. It is composed by Edward Yadzinski it is entitled "a Paganini". It is a theme and variation piece on the variations from Paganini from Rachmaninoff. It is for solo clarinet and I would just like to say that is has brought me nothing but joy since I have started working on it. There are quite some unique fingering runs that make it quite the technical piece, but once you get a good grasp on the work, it is just a fun piece, good practice on hitting those high B's. Just thought I would pass my god fortune on. Enjoy.

"It is a theme and variation piece on the variations from Paganini from Rachmaninoff."
A set of theme and variations on a set of theme and variations? lol
Oh and that is "Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme by Paganini".

Wait a second... how is it possible to have a set of theme and variations based on another set of theme and variations?? wouldn't the theme be based on the origional theme? so wouldn't it be "Yadzinski's Variations on a Theme by Paganini" instead of "Yadzinski's Variations on the Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme by Paganini"?

Guys,
Paganini wrote his very famous 24 capricci as his first opus. The 24th of them serves as the famous theme for the Rachmaninov's "Rapsodhy on a theme by Paganini".
In other words, I assume Yadzinski work is a set of variations based on the 24th Capriccio theme by Paganini.

For info, Brahms too wrote wonderful variations for piano based on the same theme by Paganini.

Charles,
Do you have the publisher's details? I can't find it in my usual supplier's catalogue, but they're always very good at tracking stuff down if I tell them who publishes it etc. I'd be interested to know if you can forward the details.
