Where can I go to buy a clarinet bell? I want to replace the bell on my Buffet "A" (~1936), since the one that came with it (I bought it used) is not appropriate. The bell from my R-13 Bb (~1955) works well. Perhaps a new one would work well, too.
The difference in the bells is most obvious on third-line B.

I would check clarinet repair shops. Every time I visit the usual suspects in NYC, I see dozens of clarinet corpses in boxes. You couldprobably get an old Buffet bell if you tried.

Also, keep an eye out on EBay for older model instruments and instrument parts. Ken's suggestion is excellent. I got an old bell from my local repairman.

Ken and Brenda, thanks for the help. The first store I tried had an old Buffet bell as part of a clarinet being kept for spare parts. Nobody knew the going rate, so we arrived at $20 and were all happy.

You can also check out Morrie Backun's bells. He makes spectacularly beautiful bells out of exotic hardwoods, you can check them out at http://www.backunmusical.com
