Are there any good Tangos for clarinet, whether it be with piano or small ensemble? For Bb, A, Eb (Bass?!)?
Thanks in advance again guys =]

Hi Morrigan:
As a matter of fact, as we speak I am preparing to play a new duet for Bb clarinet & acoustic bass by Kilar. The Tango is titled "Salto", and it was just recently discovered and transcribed for our NYC debut at Tully Hall on Feb. 19th, 2003.
Looks like a cute 3 minute piece that is light and joyful, a perfect Tango.

Oh wow! How could I possibly get my hands on this piece? I could do the Australia Premiere of the work!

It is a good idea.
Let me check on the rights to the Kilar piece. I don't think I can just copy the music and let it go out to anyone.
I'll get back to you after I check out the copywrite details.

Put "Giora Feidman" and "clarinettango" (may be spelled with one "t") into Google and see what comes up.

And go to the Klezmorim Forum on this site and look at the back pages (there aren't that many) and find the posting "Tango arrangements' by Norberto Vogel. It seemed like self-serving promotion but Mark let it go. You might find his material useful.

Astor Piazzolla, "L'Histoire du Tango" for clarinet quartet (Eb, Bb, Bb, Bass). Great fun for four.
Also his "Tango Etudes" for solo clarinet.
Best regards,

How about the Paul Keating Tango's that Catherine McKorkhil recorded last year. Australian, topical and fabulous music!
(For all non Aussies out there, Paul Keating was a former Australian Prime Minister. The tangos have such titles as:
The Tango for Micro economic reform.
The Tango we had to have etc...
