 Minidisc to Computer
Author: Eric

I just finished recording the stuff I'm going to send to some camps on a minidisc. How do I tranfer it to computer? I have a cable that connects the sound card and minidisc but what software do I need? Thanks.

If it's sony there is no way of transfering it digitally. You will have to have a cord go from the Md player and another in to the "input or line in" part of your computer and use the sound recorder software that comes with windows. Gluck

Yeah, I am also seeking a way to do this - I can't seem to find a program that will record a .WAV file from my sound card's LINE IN port. I used to have one that worked under Windows 98, but Windows XP doesn't seen to have ANYTHING for it!

If you have an older Sony model, your MD may have a digital out. Although they certainly do not have them today, when they were first brought out they did. In which case you can record digitally provided that your sound card has a digital in. Otherwise, as James suggested you need a coaxial cable and record it from the 'line in' of your computers sound card.
The program that I use, and I would recommend is MusicMatch JukeBox. <www.musicmatch.com>

It does everything you could possibly want and ever want to do. Otherwise, again as James suggested, you can use the inbuilt Sound Recorder which is packaged with Windows.

cheers,
Ben

I've used Cool Edit 2000. It does everything I need it to do, and it's available as a demo.

I can't find where to set LINE-IN as the recording source in Cool Edit... However I use Stainberg WaveLab or something like that - but it doesn't have as many effects as Cool Edit lol
