 transporting 2 clarinets

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to transport a Bb and a C clarinet? I can't get a double clarinet case to fit, (which is what, ideally I would like). Does anyone know of a case cover perhaps, that I could slip both instruments into?

Incidentally, I am not keen on making my own case - my instruments are far to precious to risk my not-so-good DIY skills on!

Thanks.

Does Wiseman make such a case? I think they might.

Sadly Wiseman cases are way above my budget - they cost almost as much as my clarinet!

Terry Horlick posted a comprehensive, and plausible solution to your problem. If you don't want to take matters into your own hands, your only recourse is expensive.

Remember Arts & Crafts? You could do this too...

It might be possible to modify a double case by making small foam or styrofoam inserts for the extra spaces for each section of the clarinet and fir it in the already existing spaces.

When I have Bb and Eb gigs, I always use a Lands End "stuff" bag and carry my clarinets in their single cases. The bag also accomodates my instrument rack, folding music stand, mouthpiece bag, can of Diet Coke, mosquito repellent, sandwich and toothbrush with paste. I have used the same bag to carry my single cased C & Eb clarinets--as well as my Blayman 4-clary stand--for symphonic gigs that call for all four instruments--rare, but it has happened.
Lands End bags are inexpensive compared to custom mulit intrument rigs (and are lighter).

In fact, I have been watching the Sneezy Classifieds and eBay for a single A clarinet case so I could do away with my bulky double case and use the Lands End bag for all my gigs--just carrying the clarinets (in their single cases) that I need. I'm always packing my A clarinet, even for wind ensemble rehearsals--and my right arm seems to be getting longer.....and longer............

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I have a single A case collecting dust in my storage room.

William,
Do you drive down to Dodgeville for that bag?

I have a friend who rigged up what looks like a golf bag carrier for his horns when he does pit orchetras which we all know can require a trunkload of instruments.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try to find a lands end bag, that seems like the best solution for my needs.
