Ok, this may sound like a really 'duh' question or a stupid one but, here goes. Is tonguing on professional clarinets easier for any reason than on student or intermediate instrumnets? I am just curious! -Corey

Nope it is neither easier or harder on pro clarinets. The key is in proper technique and practice. See Danial Bonade's "Clarinet Compendium" for a good approach to learning and practicing proper tonguing.

Our local FM-classic station is playing a fine clarinet-solo CD, nearly every day, perhaps because several of we cl'ist both ask and send money! I am AMAZED at the tonguing technique by our greats! Our best local pro always warms up with rapid articulation, I should follow his lead! Don

In tonguing (and other things), the mouthpiece has a very big effect. But not as much as your technique, of course. Get the Kell Staccato Studies book for some etudes to practice.

Hey everyone, Is it a bad thing if you can barely tounge fast enough, (um, straight 16th notes at about more than 120=quarter note, grrrr Comedians Gallop at 200!!!) in high school, will that mean it will be even more difficult in College or something.

 THANKS , PLEASE RESPOND< Mingo
