Dear Musicians,

There seems a huge number of online shops selling music and other accessories on their websites. I'm looking for a store that is well organized and has a large selection and has a relatively long business record. Anybody have some good recommendations?

I bought several opera "study books" [what in their term?] for my coloratura daughter-in-law for Christmas, the Pender Music Store in OK City had many, more I believe than Sheet Music Plus , my second choice. I have a present order in S M P for a band arr. of Der Rosenkavalier melodies, rather slow so far, but easy to search and select. There are others, but CD/DVD selling is dominant!! Don

I had an unhappy experience with smplus; they endlessly delayed shipping me an order, finally telling me that it was out of print. When I asked if they could check with the publisher if the selection might be reissued, they REFUSED!! With only a few clicks on the mouse I accessed the publisher myself and within seconds, located and ordered the music directly. It arrived within 10 days, all the way from the UK. The price, after S & H and the conversion rate were all factored in was LESS than I would have paid smplus for the same order.

Boosey & Hawkes is the publisher and they have a site at musicshop@boosey.com.

Woops! I just realized that I gave an incorrect address in my post. Boosey's site is at www.boosey.com. Once in click on composers & repertoire and then on "shop". You can also peruse their sales and rental catalogue by following other links you will find.

I just had EXCELLENT luck with Pepper. I placed an order Monday morning, 10am and received it yesterday afternoon. Yea!

I've also had a good experience with Malecki Music at <www.maleckimusic.com>. Their site is very easy to search. Some of the pieces I ordered were difficult for them to get, but rather than making me wait, their customer service department actually called me to see what I wanted to do. I think it took 7 - 10 days for my order to arrive.

If you want to see what you're purchasing, I recommend <www.windmusicplus.com>. I've yet to find a search function, but for ensemble music, they have everything broken out by instrumentation. Plus, when allowed, they have the first sheet of the score as a viewable file.

As far as <www.sheetmusicplus.com> goes, I believe their selection may be unparalleled, but I don't care for the fact that they give very little information about the pieces (e.g. grade level, no viewable score, no sound file, etc.). As a result, I've yet to order from them.

OK, so I thought I knew how to post the web addresses as clickable files. My first recommendation was Malecki Music, the second was Wind Music Plus, and the third was Sheet Music Plus.

Let me try again with the clickables.

If you're going to use "Sheet Music Plus" I would really appreciate it if you got there via the search box here. Every little bit of money coming into Woodwind.Org helps ...
