I am a beginning (adult) clarinet student. I have a Vito Resotone, which actually sounds pretty good for a beginning model. It appears to be an entry level student Vito. Does anyone know if it is the predecessor of the Vito 7212, apparently the current entry level student Vito. Is it comparable to the 7212? Would appreciate the comments of anyone who owns one or is familiar with the quality of it.

The Vito Resotone is the predecessor to the 7212. I would say they are comparable. I agree they are pretty nice student clarinets.
You might also want to consider investing in a good mouthpiece. A good mouthpiece is at least as important as a good clarinet. I would recommend either the Hite Premier or the Fobes Debut model. Don't let their inexpensive price fool you. Both these mouthpieces play very nice and may help you to avoid developing bad habits as you learn.

Hi, Leonard
I've fixed a few Vitos over the past few years and they're good horns. For 'student instruments', Resotones are about as good as it gets. I agree, as Madvax suggests, a good mouthpiece and a well adjusted Vito can be a winning combination.

Leonard: evidently "you" sound pretty good for a beginning student too
