Anyone out there with much experience with Pyne barrels? I'm tempted to try the M and M+ barrels. Any comments/suggestions?

hi
I suggest you call/em Pyne direct to get the most advice/direction or order the bbl(s) through one of the mail order houses. When ordering, state a trial basis.
If you contact Pyne, mention what you are playing on (mp/clarinet : make , model, key) and what you are trying to acheive with sound and resonance. Personally, I didn't care for the bbl and returned the 2 models I was sent for trial. The 2sd/eefer in our SO has played on a Pyne mp/bbl for yrs and is quite satisfied .
One 'good' thing about the composition material bbls is that you don't need to find the 'sweet' spot (turning the bbl in 90 degree increments to find the freest airflow spot....open G). Also, there are no loose rings to contend with.
Wood is wood, so also turn your bell for an 'airflow test' using the low F#/F/E and respective middle register notes. It's not as obvious as turning the bbl but it's noticable just the same.
regards
dennis
