how long do you break in reeds for? liek a week?

Although it's a process conducted over days, it's a matter of somewhat simple steps. Irrespective of which manner,they all have similarities.
A good book for this is The Art of Clarinet Playing by David Pino.
In the same chapter, adjusting reeds in discussed in detail.
The book is very comprehensive in all facets of clarinet playing and its history. It's availble from Van Cott, a Woodwind.org sponsor. I believe it sells for $9.
