Although Mr. Combs is still listed as being on the faculty of DePaul (according to their Web Page), I have heard from a couple people that he is no longer teaching there.
Does anyone know which is correct?

Why not contact DePaul directly rather than ask here? They're justa phone call or email away.
And you won't have to guess if the information's correct or not.

Julie DeRoche will give you the straight scoop - and she's a wonderful person, too!
(PS - Study with ANY of their faculty is a premiere experience.)

I have heard from several of Mr. Combs' students that he is no longer teaching at DePaul.

lets quit the second hand info. Just call larry and ask him if it really matters. Depaul has been going through some interesting changes with faculty lately, most recently they added wagner compost to the list of teachers there.

Hope it's ok to make this correction Mark, but Wagner's last name is spelled Campos. I returned to playing after 12 years away, and Wagner has helped me tremendously in getting my technique back. I'm also a 1986 grad of DePaul and think Wagner will make a great addition to the faculty.

Alan --
I, for one, appreciate the correction. I figured wagner compost couldn't be right (although I found it very amusing). With your correction, I was able to do a seach using the google search engine and found some biographical information (including praise from one of his teachers -- Larry Combs) and the name of a CD he has produced. It does sound like he will be an excellent addition to the faculty, and I'll be looking for the CD.
Thanks for the info.

The scource of this confusion is that I decided basically to take a year off from all teaching (though I do have one graduate student) since my performing schedule was becoming unmanageble.
Next fall I will resume my normal teaching load at DePaul and expect to be there for many years to come.

I own the CD that Wagner has made and must say what an amazing player. He coached my sectionals for the Protege Philharmonic last year and was a terrific (and very picky!) musician! The CD does not contain any works that most of us would hear often. But nonetheless, it is an outstanding disc.
