 Contrabass advice ?

Are the metal curved contrabass instruments stuffy compared to the wood and plastic straight models? Also,compared to intonation and volume capabilities?

I don't think there is an easy way to search the archives (although you can get lots of relevant hits on on Contralist using google)

I have opinions on contra alto clarinets, but not contra bass ones. The LeBlanc contra alto has a relatively large bore. This is not true for contra basses.
