 a "bore"ing thread

Please excuse the pun, I really couldn't help myself. As I'm playing mostly jazz these days, I became obsessed with the idea that I need a wide bore clarinet. However, I just played a Selmer series 9, and I found that it was "airy" and unfocused. A LeBlanc .575 bore Infinite blew much better and was definitely more focused. (I really didn't like the keywork and action though.) Now, I'm considering an Amati 604. (.575 bore). Any thoughts as to whether this suits my purposes?

Have you tried it on different barrels? The mouthpiece and barrel are essentially the vocal chords of your clarinet in the first place.

Thanks for the response--- I tried an Accubore Eddie Daniels barrel but wasn't happy with it.
