Stuart:I meant by complicated harmonics :
A tone of clarinet consists of Fourier series of tones,base,3rd,5th,7th,...(odd series). Roughly base tone governs the half of the volume. But besides those there are small vibrations to be added to the waves.If we measure our clarinet tones by Oscilo scope,we can see those small additions by the minute change of shape on the mountains and valleysl. Legere reed is good but I felt they are pure tone and not like tones emitted with natural canes with those small addition of vibrations.
