At this time, on EBAY Clarinet,pg. 2 about 1/3 of the way down, ---245, there is a Selmer 20/7 that appears to be much the same as my oldie [1920's?], a good horn, bid into the $300's. This might be an inexpensive way for a curious cl'ist to try out what I tried to discuss above! Luck, Don

I have a 1920's vintage selmer full boehm clarinet that came in a (badly) modified leblanc case. It still needs some work to be in good playing condition (saving my pennies for a complete overhaul). I bought it about a year ago on ebay for close to $325.
My problem: I'd like to find a nice 3rd party case for the thing. Anybody have any clue where I can get a case for a full boehm clarinet?

Kevin -
Try an A clarinet case, which may have a long enough space for the lower joint, or at least have enough extra space let you cut the underlying wood to fit. If you feel apprehensive about the upper joint rattling around, you could trim a cork from a wine bottle to fill in the extra space.
A double case designed to hold the lower joint and bell fitted together is another possibility. If necessary, you could put the bell in the Bb side.
I keep my C clarinet in a case that is all foam on the inside. It's designed to fit a Bb, but holds the C nicely, and I have also put my A in it occasionally when it was the only instrument I was going to play. The foam just gives way without any harm to the instrument.
Finally, you could always take a briefcase, line it with foam and cut out areas to match the length of the joints.

Try Petricola. I have the same problem with my Bufet 20 key, 7 ring Bb. Although my original Buffet case is in excellent condition, I have been in contact with Petricola. They currently produce a 20 key, 7 ring Bb clarinet so they do make cases for them. Good luck.

It sounds like we could get up a F B quartet easily. Makes me feel lucky to have an old Sel w: case and my very-old teacher's P M w:case, however the only case in which my Kohlert A fits is the open portion of a double! I really intended this post to go with the Buffet question below. Please look at it and add to [and correct] my comments on the value of extra keywork. Fun, aint it?? Don
