You don't think it provides at least some sort of valueable service to new folks who don't know as much as the experts here? I might never have known the Bestlers and Steubens of the world were junk unless I came here and saw people pointing at eBay and laughing (no, I never bought any).

It's a pro & con kind of thing I( have to weigh. While an occasional pointer to eBay items is fine for educational purposes (I thought I had made that clear in my previous post) it can easily get out of hand. Puffery and misspellings are humorous, but it gets to be overwhelming and of little real value.
Every time someone posts something from eBay I have to go and check to see if the person is trying to drum up some business through some (what they think is) sly manipulation of the BBoard - it occasionally happens. It takes a lot of my time to check through the links and see what's really happening.
If people have <b>real</b> questions about merchandise that they're considering buying and perhaps the seller doesn't know the answer, then a question here is most appropriate.

Admittedly, there are a few subjects and/or some repetitive posts that are becoming trying to see over and over, especially as of late. (And, speaking for myself, it would be nice if some folks would take a hint.)
But as Ralph G. pointed out, if these things don't get mentioned, new folks who don't know as much as the experts here may make the mistake of purchasing trash, thinking it's good stuff.
However, I completely agree with Mark, and if I may, I would like to spell it out more clearly to ensure everyone understands:
IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO IS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT CLARINET BRANDS, ETC., DON"T BUY ANYTHING YOU SEE ON E-BAY, OR MUCH OF WHAT YOU SEE ELSEWHERE, UNTIL YOU CONSULT IT WITH SOMEONE WHO KNOWS, WHETHER HARE, ON THE WW/BB, OR ELSEWHERE!
This person's audacity in describing the L-4 clarinet, which gave place to this post, should be charged with false advertising, anyone who didn't know and became enthusiastic with the sales spiel might just get stuck with much less than what they bargained for.

Only once in a long while does e bay ever offer something of true historical interest. I must admit that the recent ancient Selmer Metal sax mouthpiece from the turn of the century the only thing of real historic interest. Very rare do we see anything pre 1900 as for musical instruments sold!
