Does anyone have a photo of the Charles Bay TR? I've heard good things about it and would like to see what it looks like. The Bay website has nothing
Thanks,
Matt

The Bay thumbrest is a derivative of the standard thumbrest.
It has lots of 'North-South' adjustment along the long axis of the clarinet body, much as has been adopted by LeBlanc and Buffet on their top models.
It has little lateral flexibility and it just a little wider than the average thumbrest.
If you really want to feel a difference try the Ton Kooiman 'Etude' for $25 USD and if you like that, spring for the TK 'Maestro'.
Those really do work.
You would probably get the same improvement in position from the Bay design, just by moving your thumbrest nearer the mouthpiece end.

I'll look for a patent on it [or you can], it should have a clear drawing of it. Search USPTO "quick Search" for Bay AND thumbrest [or clarinet] Luck, Don

Thanks all. The photo with description really helped. I already own an Etude and do not like it. Looking for a good alternate.
MOO,

Just "for the record", I have Charles Bay TR's on both of my Concerto clarinets. However, I am currnetly playing my R13's with the "stock" TR's (moved to a higher position and covered with sections of brakeline tubing for comfort) and have discovered that the Bays (while affording a feeling of comfort) were quite restrictive to my little finger motion, which is, with the stock TRs, more free. The Bay's kind of lock you into an unnatural position, but if that position is good for you (they are comfortable) then all is good. However, for me, the stock TR, moved higher than factory setting, seems to work better. Maybe, it is just hard for this ol' dawg to larn nu triks, but I did spend about ten years with the Bay's (and my Concerto's)--and now find that the old stock TR's (as well as the R13s) seem to do just as well--if not better.
BTW--Bay's are expensive!!! I paid about $80.00 each (special convention price) for mine about twelve years ago.
