While talking today to Albert of Alphin Music (1-781-449-4197), he mentioned that he had a few O'briens "tucked away somewhere". His catalog price is $65.00, so if any of you are interested, you might want to give him a call.

if he is selling them for that price he is nuts. albert is a pretty sharp guy and i am shure he knows they are now worth more than "list price" but if they are really only 65$ they wont last long.i sold one recently on ebay for $100

To duper20dan: Actually, we didn't discuss price. I do have his latest catalog (July, 2002) and the price is listed at $65.00. Albert actually went out of his way to discourage me from even thinking about trying them. He mentioned a few "cracking" experiences along with the hugh variations between the mpcs.
I didn't receive any sense that he valued them highly at all.
Why not give him a call?
Good luck!

i still have my obrien 4* so i dont need a new one. i dont play it any more not because its a bad mpc but for fear of breaking it . some one broke my first 4* after 20 years use and the replacement played EXACTLY like the original.i may have gotten lucky as others didnt play nearly as well so their my be variations between examples
