scratches from an aluminum barrel

I tried an aluminum barrel, and was upset to find that two small burrs in the barrel inner lip left fine scratches on the wood of the upper joint of my Bb clarinet above the cork. The scratches don't affect the seal between the barrel and the upper joint. Any suggestions? (I obviously will not be using this barrel further). Are the scratches detrimental? Thanks

Aluminum is soft. Take a steel knife and scrape it around the inside of the barrel's socket where it is rough. The idea is to remove the sharpness and leave a beveled edge. This is called "de-burring" and should have been done by the person who turned the barrel. Once this is done you should be ok to use the thing again.

One question... why would you want to use an aluminum barrel?
