Just thought I would like to add my name to the list of Prinz fans. His recordings of the Clarinet concerto and also the Brahms Quyintet are incredible. he has a ring on his sound but a mellowness very few players can ever achieve.

I agree with you 100% about Prinz's recordings -- they're excellent. And his first Mozart Concerto recording is noticeably better than the second.

I own the Munchinger on LP, his articulation in the 3rd movement leaves me speechless. Everything seems so effortless, he has a certain calmness to his playing nothing is ever rushed always in place and with such nice sound.
I will be looking for his brahms recordings...
Talking abut brahms, one of my all time favorite is the recent recording by Alessandro Carbonare of the both Brahms and Mozart quintet (Harmonia Mundi). He adds quite a few notes to the mozart but I find he always find the right time and right tone to do it.

I'm really glad you put me on to the earlier, Munchinger, version. I have the Bohm-DG peformance and consider Prinz one of the best interpreters of the Mozart. Is the Munchinger available on CD?

I cannot recall which of the Prinz recordings of the Mozart I have but I think it is excellent. Few other players tap so well into the melancholy of the last movement. It is a movement whose subtleties can too easily be glossed over.
