 artie movie questions
Author: Jean

Has anyone out there ever seen the movie (from the mid-80's) about Artie Shaw entitled "Time is all you've got"? I read somewhere there was a problem with distributing the video. And I think someone from Canada said they had seen it on Canadian TV....I would love to see it. I believe it won an Academy award for best documentary.

Also, is there any truth to the rumor that a movie starring Johnny Depp as Artie has been bouncing around for many years.

I haven't seen the movie, but would guess that the movie is still probably tied up in litigation after Shaw's unsuccessful lawsuit over a percentage of the profits.

The Shaw movie starring Johnny Depp? A potential Robert Altman project that has yet to happen...GBK

Getting stronger and more flexible each day. Just waiting for the day when they say, "It's time for a titanium knee." Or whatever it is they make them out of these days. :)

Jean--I had a little time and this is what I found:

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0088740

I've got a copy of "Second Chorus" in which Artie plays part of his Clarinet Concerto (wanna trade sometime??)

William,
There is also a movie called "Crash" (I think it may also have a longer title too) that Artie was in where he was billed as elderly passenger. It also starred William Shatner and Adrienne Barbaeu. (sp).....I think Artie was in his 60's when it was made. At 92 what would they bill him as now? Ancient passenger?

I would enjoy seeing your movie. We'll have to screen it if I ever get back to Wisconsin.

Jean
