last semester another clarinetist gave me a reed to try .. i liked it, but it was a #4 and i think it would be better for me to get 3.5. the only problem is that i cant remember the name of the reed exactly - it doesnt say on the back. its something like' hot n swingin' lol ... i know you guys are prolly laughing. its made by another company ... does this sound familiar to anyone? Tim B - are you out there? whats the name of that reed you gave me?? well - if anyone knows what i am talkking about, please let me know where i can order them?
thanks, JL

I once got a box of "Hot and Swing special" reeds. That was a few years ago, but I remember really liking them. I just found the old box (which I must have kept for the name) and the insignia says the following on separate lines, in different fonts:
PRIM-ROSEAU
Crunchi
NICE
-FRANCE-
I think I bought them through Albert Alphin in Massatusets(sp?).

i play a 5RV lyre mouthpiece. the #4 reed i was given was just a tad too strong which really surprised me. i usually play a vandoren V12 #3 and 3.5 with some difficulty and have never been able to play a 4 at all on any reed until i tired this one - so i think they may be on the soft side.
