Can anyone tell me what differentiates a B45 dot mouthpiece from a plain vanilla B45. According to the Van Doren catalogue they have identical tip openings and lays.

The B45 and B45 dot are two very different beasts so to speak. the internal diameter of the exit bore on the dot is somewhat larger. As to specific measurements I don't have the nearby. Aslo the internal baffle/bore entrance is different as well. These different aspects make the b45dot somewhat more open in tone.

The B45 dot has a round inner chamber that gives it its "dot" name. It is a bit freer blowing than the standard B45, but otherwise shares many of its characteristics.
