No i'm playing about 7-8 cents on the falt side.....on almost my entire range....I recently Bought a new MPC and Barrel could my Embouchure be adjusting to that change and be doing this? i'm really confused on what is going on... please help!

Excuse my typing errors..FLOOR** I might want to add that it( my new MPC and barrel included) played fine untill I dropped my clarinet... the "change" didnt start untill 1-2 days after I dropped it. Sorry for the numerous post on my part

Hi, Corey :)
Clarinets get dropped on hard floors, down flights of stairs, off busses and out windows every day. Sometimes they don't play so good afterward but I've never been aware that it made even one of 'em go flat. Look for some other cause - like James' suggestion that it 'could' be the new mouthpiece/barrel? Did you check its tuning *with other instruments* after the new mpc/barrel and before it was dropped?

The crowsfoot A key might have come unadjusted during the fall, and this might affect intonation across the whole range. I'd have an expert check to see whether the pad is rising by the correct amount.

If it didn't rise the right amount it would affect only A and Bb.
I can't imagine how the throat A key could affect general intonation - only playability/response.

Before you get too far into fixing your clarinet, double check to make sure the frequecy for "A" on your tuner hasn't been inadvertently changed. A clarinetist I know was having fits trying to figure out why she was playing so out of tune. She then noticed that her tuner had been set to something other than the "440" setting she usually used.

"I recently Bought a new MPC and Barrel "

I suspect that the barrel you recently purchased is longer than the old one and is causing the "new" flatness in your instrument. It could also be that the mouthpiece that is a bit longer, and that would compound your intonations concerns. Play a bit with your old barrel to see if the pitch is better. If so, take your new barrel back for a shorter version. A tyhpical Bb barrel should be about 66mm to play at A=440. Good luck!!

The first couple of days that I had the new set-up it played great in tune no problems at allZ(until I dropped it) after i dropped it it played the same, then it started playing out-of-tune.....I have an E11 and the barrel it came with is 64.5mm and the new barrel is 65mm, I wouldnt think that tiny of a differnece in length would make this problem possible.

Thank you for all of your advice, I ended up finding the culprit, it was the barrel it was too long. I am going to get a shorter version. Thanks again
