I downloaded a clarinet score of Mozart's quintet from keystave.com last night and, for the first time, realized just how much the quintet and the concerto had in common.
The Larghetto second movement of 581 and the Adagio of 622 are pretty much variations of each other. Some of the similarities are the main themes, some of the 4-note sixteenth runs, and some of the ornaments.
The most striking similarity is that the highly controversial cadenza in the middile of the concerto's adagio came right out of measures 49 and 50 of the quintet. Not to mention the entire section near those measures are pretty much similar as well.

An original cadenza for the Mozart Concerto Adagio doesn't exist, so that's why many players use the one Mozart wrote for the Quintet.

All of the Mozart quintet versions that I have seen have some strings. Does anyone know of a version for all clarinets? Bb clarinets instead of the 'A'.
