A few months ago I bought a box of 25 "diamond cut reeds" #3 1/2 on eBay. I got them for about 80 cents each, and they were better, IMHO, than good VanDorens. I need some more reeds, but I can't find these kinds anymore! Does anyone know where I can find them?

You can do a search on eBay for past items and you might get a hit there or check your feedback and see if the seller gave you feedback and go from there.

The "Diamond Cut" reeds were made by United Musical Instruments (owners of Conn, Artley, King, and many other once-great names who now produce junk). I bought quite a few boxes of these reeds earlier this year, for next to nothing, because they were dirt cheap --- and I got what I paid for. They look OK and can be made to play well for a day or two, but they die a very early death --- I'd say the cane is not very good and way under-aged. If you want cheap, disposable reeds they're OK -- but no way are they comparable to Vandorens or any other reputable brand.

Dave...I just came across a nearly full box (23 reeds) of Diamond cut tenor sax reeds which was in the back of one of the shelves in my studio. These have to be 30 years old, minimum. They are #5 strength (what was I ever thinking?)
If you would like some additional Diamond cut reeds (to use as bass clarinet reeds) and want to trade, let me know.
I won't be anxiously checking my mail waiting for your reply ;-)
