Has anyone used the "My Tempo Accompaniments" (linked at the bottom of page)? Impressions? Are they good? How long did they take to come?

Caveat: Dave Blumberg is a sponsor and a friend. He also posts here frequently.

My son used them for his graduation party. We didn't have much time to prepare, but Dave came through very nicely.

The quality is pretty good, and Dave will work with you if you have some specific requests. We had a custom rush order, and Dave got them to us in about 5 days. It would have been sooner, but Dave was out of town when I sent the request in.

PS - I believe in all my sponsors. I either know them, or I know about their products. In all cases I know their reputation. I have never been notified of a problem with any of my sponsors.

The fee to be a sponsor and/or have a Web site on Sneezy is nominal ($50.00/yr), so I'm not really beholden to any of them; I do it more as a service than a money-making proposition.

Cheers,
Mark C.

I ordered accompaniments for the Mozart Clarinet Concerto and Jeanjean Arabesques for my son. They are of excellent quality - played on a nice piano, good technique, etc. The advantage of these CDs is that you don't have the problems that we have experienced with live accompanists - slowing down, wrong notes, losing their places. But this is related to their disadvantage. With a live accompanist, you can agree to specific interpretations for a particular performance, rubato, etc.

We recently used the CD at a party. Without it, my son would have played something unaccompanied. With it he played the first movement of the Mozart clarinet concerto. We also had a violinist at the party who played with an accompanist who is a graduate student at Peabody. There is no question that playing with this accompanist would be better than playing with any CD. But is this accompanist available to play with high school kids? NO. I hope that this answers your question.

If I can be of any assistance, just contact me -
music@mytempo.com
I can customise the performance on the CD to any tempo shading needed. Even down to exact Cadenza Timings. All I need are the tempo markings. Anything is possible.
I once got an order for a Flute Solo that the Flutist (for a Doctoral Recital)gave me 85 tempo markings for the Borne Carmen Fantasy - And she needed it overnighted (I was up till 1:30 finishing it)! If I have a tape of a performance, I can make the CD like that one.

Judy - Congratuations to Mark on Winning the Interlochen Concerto Competition, my students tell me that he played very well in the performance.

One other thing - we now take Credit Cards for Ordering. Call the toll free number on my page, or send an e-mail to order. Mark is setting us up a Shopping cart, so soon that will be an option too.

Yes any pitch you can dream of, I can do. I get requests for A - 441 to 444. Pitches other then 440 would be considered "custom tempo", as these are recorded in real time, not digitally transposed from an original.
I don't want to push these on the Bulletin Board, so contact me privately if I can help you. (email) music@mytempo.com
or on my page at
http://www.mytempo.com
I am doing this full time (during day, I teach, and perform at night), so orders are filled quickly. Most are sent out as soon as I recieve payment. Custom take a few more days.

BTW, if anyone is wondering, these are not General Midi, they are recorded on a Digital Kawai Piano, and manipulated using a variety of programs. They sound like a live performance, not taped Midi. I have also partnered with John Cipolla who is a Music Minus One Artist to offer the Complete Baermann Etudes Op 63, and 64 from the actual Music Minus One files - at your own custom tempos.
These Accompaniments got excellent reviews in the most recent edition of the Natl. Flute Assc. magazine Summer 1999.
