Has anyone had experience with the double reed (oboe/English horn) book for Fiddler on the Roof? I think it's Book 3.
I'm just wondering how difficult it is in the grand scheme of things. Thanks.

It's not ridiculously difficult - the trickiest thing is playing in Middle Eastern scales quickly.
You may also benefit by photocopying the last page to avoid a near impossible page turn.

I just finished Fiddler. Since I don't play double reed, I transposed them to soprano sax. This included the opening to Sabbath Prayer, which is totally solo, and a nice moment. These were from Reed Book 5. Reed 3 is all clarinet, which I also covered when it seemed a better part. It is basically the 2nd clarinet chair. Reed 2 was lead clarinet and included the Wedding Dance solo, etc. I found it all quite doable in the grand scheme of things". I really enjoyed the music. (Hope that made sense).
