For your information, MUSIKVERLAG HANS SIKORSKI from Hamburg published an arrangement of BWV 1055 (klavier concerto in A-major) for Oboe and piano, in C-major. In other words, it's the concerto you're talking about... Specifically made for Oboists that don't happen to have a d'amore.
The catalog number of the publication is H.S 1035, and this series of concertant works of the Old Masters is called ARS INSTRUMENTALIS. Seems mister Sikorski feels just the way you do. Played it and it's just great.
Indeed, as far as Baroque music is concered - go ahead and perform it on whatever you have. I would LOVE to play it on a Barouque Oboe D'amore, but that's just my personal preference...
