Most places give you a trial period with shaper tips. You can try them out for a couple of weeks and then send them back. That might be worth a try. I used a gilbert -1 and it seemed quite good for me; but then I am not that discerning about English Horn-seeing as how the last time I played it was three years ago! I have some colleagues that use a variety of shapes-Giacobassi, Lickman, Adam (Falstaff) and they seem very happy.
