I've got a cocobola rossi and adore it.. its expensive, but the way that it plays makes it worth it to me.. now if i could just get an a clarinet to go with my Bb (I have a buffet still)

The Catalog I have right handy is the fall winter 98/99 from WW&BW...page 31...both the Bb and the A are available in french bore and american bor (r-13) style...avalable in either african blackwood, honduran rosewood or cocobola (Mouth piece sold seperately...there is also a doulbe case if a person wants...both are priced the same in this catalog. at about 3500.00....may be differant now...they also have wurlitzer style reformed boehm model running 4000.
Again, I think they are just down right beautiful...good luck to both of you

Leblanc also has rosewood clarinets 2007S(B-flat),2007AS(A) as Symphone VII line up.I am enchanted literally.If I were enough rich I would buy one and would order a rosewood mouthpiece to Greg Smith.He makes them.Never mind my clumsy technique.

I didn't know they were _that_ new. I was thinking more in line on what fine sound that comes forth from them, at least from Jonathan Cohler on his "Clarinet Alone" CD. I wouldn't trade it for anything because of the sound that is possible. I know mouthpiece, barrel, reed... make it too. One doesn't let go of a treasure, though.

I am the proud owner of two American Bore Rosewood(Bb and A). I also use a Charles Bay wooden MOL mouthpiece with several ligatures (Eddie Daniel, Optimum or Charles Bay, depending on the whether - a nice possible thread on this one).
What can I say. This is a dream set-up. Everything got measurably better when I moved to this set-up (I used to be a Buffer R-13 owner). Intonation, response, ergonomics, beauty, and tone-tone-tone. In spite of the fact that I am only a (albeint serious) amateur with the usual problems of endurance, muscular weakenesses and imperfect breath control, everybody (including professionals) have told me that my sound is beautiful. I consider that I shaved about 2 years of practice out of my sound development program.
This is a life time investment. It is not expensive.

If I buy a car,which emits dirty matters to the atmosphere,it would be far better to buy rosewood clarinets.
By the way I found Sympnony VII is sold at 3800$.Rossi's is far cheaper than this by about 1000$.

Well there is that one ad on the Classifieds here of someone selling a Bb and A pair for only $4000.

The Selmer Company also makes their contra-alto and contra-bass clarinets out of rosewood.
