wanted to try them or years but never could find them in a soft enough strength that i could play. i know they run a little harder than ricos but found a deal on my strength that i could not resist. 10$ a box. i have played them for 2 weeks in a row at community band and have to give them thumbs up. very near vandoren in quality . i bought a second box right away. execellent bass clarinet reeds! these are the RC model

Would you say the strength is comparable to Vandoren, i.e., 3 Vandoren would match 3 Gonzales?

Hi All -
I'm reposting this so more people who are interested in Gonzales reeds can read it in the proper context.
I discovered Gonzales GD and FOF reeds last year and have been playing them almost exclusively since then. I found several boxes of GD 3.0 Bb reeds from the 2012 harvest at Innoledy in NY and they worked very well. Coming from Behn Aria 3.5, Rue la Pic 3.5, and Pigerstorfer Dolce 3.5s I found the GD about a 1/4 step too soft. I then tried the new GD 3.0s (2016 harvest) but they were too hard and dead. Luckily, Innoledy had a few boxes of the 2012 GD 3.25s and they are terrific. I wish I could find more from that harvest.
