So I bought a Buffet Crampon Tosca clarinet earlier this year (new) for college, and I'm moving to a winter environment (cold winters, warm(ish) summers). Since this clarinet is a major investment into my future, I am not letting anything attempt to ruin it; I've been trying to find an outer case for the clarinet for easier carry and some extra protection. I emailed the Clarinet Professor at my college and he said the "Buffet Crampon Pochette Clarinet Case". I'm just worried that it won't fit and I'd like to get the professional's internet help. Any help would be appreciated!

I have come across very interesting literature from LOMAX Clarinet products on environmentally secure cases - temperature and humidity controlled. Looked very nice!

I'd like to use the original case inside a shell. Also, money is an issue as those cases are over $200. I'd like to keep it around $100.

I had an Altieri clarinet case bag that had good insulation and kept the clarinets warm in their case while going from place to place in zero degree weather in Montana. Under $100 various internet places.

My main problem is that the Tosca case is longer, and has considerably less width than the R13 cases.

You want protection from the elements and shock. You don't want to spend a lot of money. Classic clarinet case bags won't accomodate the Tosca case's long length, plus, take an ordinary case and "put a treble clef on the outside and expect to pay twice as much."
Get a flexible insulated bag for carrying things like lunches. They come in all sizes. If shock is a concern, which I don't think it will be, put some foam in there. The size needed to hold a Tosca case should leave you enough room for other musical gear too.
The Buffet Crampon Pochette Clarinet Case recommended sounds wrong for all the reasons you've given. I don't think its form fitting size is much geared for purchases centered around shock and climate control, much less those done on a budget.
The Lomax case is excellent (read: overkill) were money to object. Then again, the same could be said of Wiseman cases.
Do this and still accept the reality that someones clarinets crack no matter what we do.

How about a waterproof back pack, computer bag, or briefcase which is large enough for the clarinet case and some insulation of some type?
