I was rummaging through my junk box looking for something today when I realized that I had about 20 or so mouthpieces that I had no idea what they were. The brand and/or model markings on them were completely worn off. These are my "G.O.K." (God only knows) mouthpieces. How many do you have and what do you do with them?

I've got about 30 or so apart from the ones actually fitted to instruments. Some are known pieces that I have accumulated in the never-ending search, but about 20 are unknowns. A few weeks back I spent a wet afternoon play-testing them and found that some were surprisingly good. Those I'll put onto instruments for sale. The 12 or so remaining will become my guinea-pigs, on which I'll try out new (to me) techniques and tools. I've had some surprising finds among the oddments I've gathered. I bought a box of 5 unknowns from a local music shop that changed owners a few years back and found that for my $20 I had 2 B45's, a glass Vandoren A2 and a couple of Bundy's.

I don't own any but was just thinking that Yamaha should take their name off of theirs before someone realizes they make them!

LOL. Actually, are there any Yamaha's that deserve consideration by serious players?
Is anybody today making a decent mouthpiece that comes unmarked? Or so lightly marked it will soon be unmarked? Like maybe only a painted logo or stick on label. How would you identify it later?
Have any of you high end (or other) folks ever said, "This has to be a B45!" or something to that effect? Which hearkens back to my previous questions about how to verify "factory original" specs on a mp of unknown pedigree.

I have two Vandoren MPs where the label is nearly worn off. One is a 2RV from my childhood and the other a more recent 5rv lyre. I know exactly what they are, so that doesn't really count as "GOK". Of course the junk stock MPs that came with my various clarinets are clearly labelled - of course they are never used so they look brand new.

The Vandoren labelling/printing almost always seems to come off, but isn't the model always stamped into the blank near the tenon?
