Quick question. Anyone know what the instrumentation for the Cendrillon opera is as far as clarinets go? Are there any clarinets in it? Just curious, since our university is performing it this April. Thanks!

FWIW, according to both Kalmus and Luck's all the suites from the opera call for two (soprano) clarinets.
Best regards,

We have done Cendrillon a couple of times at Montreal Opera. There are definitely clarinets in it. If memory serves, it calls for 2 soprano clarinets (no bass clarinet).

Ah thank you both. Too bad there isn't any bass, since that 's what I'd probably play. Oh well. Thanks guys!

What a coincidence. My university is putting on the same production right now too.

Speaking of Massenet, if your are a bass specialist keep an eye out for his opera Werther (which is being done at Montreal Opera at the moment).
In Werther the bass clarinet part doubles on alto sax. There are soft attacks on low Bs in the alto sax part so the bass clarinetist might play the alto sax part on tenor sax.

I'm no bass specialist, more like clarinet consort specialist (all of them). But I'll keep my eye out, thanks!
