RIP: Milton Babbitt

RIP Milton Babbitt.
May 10, 1916 - January 29, 2011.
A wonderful man and a great composer.

Over many a nice shot of tequila, his exacting instructions and lots of singing and laughing, I enjoyed working with him on this great piece and more.

Composition for 4 Instruments (1948), for flute, clarinet, violin and cello.

That sounds good. I beleive he wrote a clarinet quintet. Do you have any views on that piece?

American composers seem to live a very long time. Keep waiting to hear of Elliott Carter's demise but (thankfully) no news yet.
